Kat and Dave were married at Hardy Farm in December of 2016 and their wedding was one of my absolute favorites! Kat’s sister and Matron of Honor, Mary Grace, first reached out to me from London to talk about her sisters engagement and begin the search of finding a wedding planner for Kat. MG and I hit it off right away and after talking to Kat and Dave to confirm that we would be a great fit, we hit the ground running with planning and design.

These two were the most trusting couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. After our initial consult, they filled out the questionnaire forms that I sent them and I got to work! Kat and Dave are a very laid back, dog loving, family focused couple who love comfort food and great craft beer (totally my kind of people!). They envisioned 40-60 people for their wedding and wanted the vibe to feel intimate, welcoming, romantic, and fun.

The FIRST vendor I called was Ryan from Fire and Company. I knew we had to have them! Fire and Co offers “high-quality food and service at more laid-back gatherings” which was ideal for Kat and Dave’s celebration.
Next up: Isaiah freakin’ Bennett (that might actually be his real middle name). Kat and Dave really wanted a singer / songwriter to play live music and when they were describing their wishes, I was super excited because I knew Isaiah could deliver. This guy is beyond talented!
The rest of the vendors came easy. Kat and Dave hired every vendor that I recommended and the result was beyond amazing. Ariel Johnson for hair and makeup, Espresso Dave crafted up custom winter drinks to keep guests warm, Mountain Love Films created the wonderful film you see above, El’s Cards calligraphed all of the signs, Lisa Parker from Cakes for All Seasons baked the delicious desserts, Peterson Party Center and Showcase Events provided all of the rentals, and one of my favorite people ever, Heidi from Flowers By Leslie (soon to be Heidi H Designs) created the incredible florals as well as hung out with me for the day to assist with wedding tasks and keep me company.
Winter decor, garland, and lighting were especially important to Kat so we surprised her by creating this gorgeous, real pine, garland display for their ceremony backdrop.
Something very important to Kat and Dave was that they wanted their guests to feel a part of the wedding as opposed to spectators. I came up with the idea to create a candle lighting ceremony, similar to a warming of the rings ceremony. Guests were all given candles as they entered the barn and when the moment came to light their candles, the guests in the aisle lit their candles first then passed the flame to their neighbor. The room was soon glowing in candlelight while Kat and Dave completed lighting their unity candle.

After the First Look, and before the ceremony began, I had the opportunity to do a Room Reveal with Kat and Dave. It was so much fun to see their faces when they saw the space and the decor. They had a pretty good idea of what it was going to look like, but some of the details and the exact design was a little bit of a surprise!
Here comes the pretty…
Thank you both for letting me be a part of this magical day!

Nicole
