NMWE:
How did you become a part of this industry?
Courtney:
I went to school for photography at Maine Media, thinking I would work primarily as a brand and editorial visual storyteller! Turns out, weddings are some of the most fun, positive and beautiful stories to be told! I love everything about them!
NMWE:
What sets you apart? / What is your most valued feature about your business?
Courtney:
I would say that I approach each couple’s story as it’s own! I don’t have a template of how I am going to tell their story, I just want to make sure they look at the images and feels like themselves and all the joy and emotions they share together. This goes along with my background in storytelling!

NMWE:
What keeps you passionate and motivated?
Not to keep coming back to the same thing, but my honest answer is that every couple has a new and exciting story to tell! I haven’t yet heard the same engagement, how-you-met, first date or family dynamic story yet!! I almost never shoot at the same spot twice, as I encourage all of my couples to choose their favorite spaces, places and activities so they can feel as true to themselves as possible!
NMWE:
What are your desired types of couples?
Courtney:
If I had to choose a few words I am inspired by in others, they would be honest, fun-loving, confident in their style and real people with real stories! One of the most important factors in booking is that we get along and they trust my ability and vision, so they can breathe easy and feel as confident as possible in front of my camera. My style leans slightly towards light, airy and authentic so I appreciate all-white-everything in homes, bucket hats of all types, sea salt in my hair, a good pair of Madewell jeans and a good dose of fresh air adventure with my love.
NMWE:
Do you have a past favorite wedding? If yes, why is it your favorite?
Courtney:
I honestly can’t answer this one… I wouldn’t know how to pick! I will say my favorites by far are when couples chose to tell their own story in their celebration. Get married outside with just a few of your closest people, dance during cocktail hour, eat good food, smile all day, and, my goodness, girl!, rock the bright red lipstick at your reception if you want to! Also a huge fan of showing some ankles and local farm-to-table eats!
NMWE:
What is your best piece of advice or tip for couples planning a wedding?
Courtney:
You do you – find your vision and hire a professional planner to bring it to life! It’s like most things – when you try to turn a passion or hobby into work, it can start to feel like work. Don’t let your epic celebration feel heavy because you’re bogged down by emails, quotes or choices! Do the work, make the vision and them let go and enjoy!! 🙂
